The Story Behind Immerse

Immerse invites churches to make regular, intentional Bible reading a core piece of their community’s identity. By participating in two 8-week experiences per year, churches can read through the entire Bible together in three years.

Using a Bible designed for reading at length, readers are invited to get lost in the stories, poetry, letters, and other literature that make up that grand narrative of the Scriptures. A simplified “book club” discussion model encourages groups to read large portions of the Bible and simply talk about what they read.

It’s not a Bible study. It’s ultimately an invitation to a vibrant, transformative relationship with God and with each other through his Word.

What Others Are Saying About Immerse

‘An Amazing Initiave’

”Immerse is an amazing initiative…..and I feel it is “for such a time as this”. We have felt the need for reading God’s Word in community for a long time. What a joy it has been to enjoy this new format of ‘a good read’ as in a Book Club. I do not usually do Book Clubs but the Immerse Book Club is inspirational. Praise the Lord. ” (From a Group Member in Carlisle)

‘A New Sense of Purpose’

“Our group was struggling and was on the verge of dying, but Immerse has given us a new sense of purpose. The conversations are great and while we are still meeting on Zoom, people are enthusiastic to come together each time we meet”. (Life Group leader, Glasgow)

‘New insight into God's word’

”Having been reading the Bible since childhood, the Immerse programme has given me a whole new insight into God’s word. The presentation, the very appearance of the books, plus the absence of chapters, verses, footnotes, all of which broke up the narrative, has turned what was often a sense of Christian ‘duty’ into an ‘un-put-downable’ riveting ‘read’. It flows, hangs together and is an ‘eye opener’.” (Senior Church Leader, Carlisle)

‘Reading Through Fresh Eyes’

”A statement that has always jarred with me is that “we need to make the Bible relevant to people.” I don’t believe we do. The Bible is relevant, but we need to make the time to read it and make the space to explore it with others. Immerse gave us a way to read the bible together in community with others and through fresh eyes.” (Presbyterian Church Leader, N Ireland)
